Danbury 2026
Parks Pond - Tarrywile Park - Danbury December 16, 2025 - January 15, 2026 It is mid-January and I am still in Danbury. It is not what I envisioned nor planned for the new year. I may write more about the past six weeks, experiences since my last post on December 15 last year, but for now, I am going to provide a brief account. I have been staying in an apartment next to The Sesame Seed Restaurant. I worked at The Seed circa 1979-1986 and have remained in touch with Dee. I am

Cleveland - Danbury
Patio Open Space - Museum of Contemporary Art December 1-15, 2025 On my second day in Cleveland (11/24), the weather had turned to an early, winter-like environment. Night temps were in the low to mid 20s, days high 20s and low 30s. For the next several days, there were snow showers mixed with mostly overcast skies. We had 3” snow Thanksgiving Eve and light accumulations on other days. The general forecast for the next ten days was similar. On Sunday 11/30, I stayed moved f

Cleveland
Three for One, by Dennis Jones Sunday, November 23 – Monday, December 1, 2025 I was up Friday morning (October 21) at 4:30 having Raisin Bran and a glass of milk. There was a damp chill in the air. It had rained a little overnight. I left Chatfield State Park (Denver) at 5:30 AM. I drove through heavy traffic for the first hour. Chatfield is towards the southern end of Denver, and I needed to go to I-76, north of Denver, a distance of about forty miles. After that, traffic

Heading to Denver
San Rafael Swell, I-70 in Utah November 10-21, 2025 I left Zion Monday morning, heading to Denver. There is some great scenery on the drive, especially a canyon west of Salina, UT, where I-70 rises through Salina Canyon and Fishlake National Forest. There is also an amazing section of road through the San Rafael Swell . Overall, I-70 through this part of Utah is an engineering and construction marvel. I enjoyed this drive a great deal. I stopped at several rest areas to tak

Zion NP, Again (2025)
Orion above The Watchman on a Bright Moon Night November 2-10, 2025 I arrived at Zion National Park on Sunday, November 1. It was a beautiful day. I went for a bike ride up Zion Canyon that afternoon, but I kept it short, only doing one loop. It is about two miles from Watchman Campground to the entrance of the canyon road. From there, it is six miles to the end of the road. It stops when the canyon becomes too narrow. There is a walking trail from that point that goes anoth

Goblin Valley State Park
Goblins! October 27-29, 2025 I drove from Moab to Goblin Valley on Monday and stayed in the campground two nights. Ad their brochure mentions a couple times, the landscape is other worldly. The Goblins were formed by a similar process of land formation by sedimentation in an ancient inland sea, eventual uplift, and erosion all taking place over a time period of about 140-170 million years. It's a unique environment. Kids love running around and climbing on the Goblins. It's a

Canyonlands National Park - Needles District
October 23-27, 2025 I arrived at Needles In Canyonlands in the evening on Thursday, October 23. It took about two hours to drive from Moab. I had a reservation for one night in B21. I was surprised to see a day open at all when I had checked about two weeks ago. There are only thirteen reservable campsites, and it just so happened there was one site open on one day. In general, it’s all booked. When I have checked back again to see if anything else had opened up, there was ne
