October 9-11, 2023

Petrified Forest National Park is located in Arizona off of I-40, about an hour from New Mexico and about two hours east of Flagstaff. it is a wonderful park that for some reason does not receive the attention other wonderful parks receive, such as Arches, Canyonlands, Zion, etc. it is worth one's time and effort to enjoy.

There is a 28 mile road that wanders through the park from the north to the south entrance. Even though October is one of the park's busiest months, I found it to have little traffic. The road is in excellent condition most of the way. The scenery is magnificent, highlighted by wide open, colorful desert landscapes. The land seems to stretch forever, and it is a catalyst for one's mind and spirit to feel similarly, stretching one's soul and abilities past boundaries that may have existed in some wrongful, artificial way. Human constructs, created in a very busy society, can mislead us into thinking that they are the highest priority, when maybe being active in nature is the real deal. It is an inspirational, big dream landscape!

It is not only a vast, colorful landscape. It is quiet. Often, the only sound is the wind. It is a comfortable, thought provoking environment. My mind wandered through numerous, feel-good scenarios, enjoying being in such an exhilarating location.

These photos were taken over a three day period of rides.
